About The Event
Better Mueller-Roemer is a native of South Carolina growing up in Spartanburg and Summerville. She is primarily a potter, sculptor, and water color painter but also works in other mediums. Bette has been making ceramics for decades out of her studio in Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina. Today she mostly works with Raku pottery which she says is less controllable, predictable and a lot of fun. Raku is a firing technique which has its origins in sixteenth century Japan. Various atmospheric effects in the glaze are achieved by rapid firing and cooling: from delicate patterns of glaze crackle to the shimmer of copper luster.
Please join us for the opening reception of RAKU, The Magic of Copper on Friday March 6th, 2020 from 5-8pm and celebrate years of Bette's exploration in ceramics. There will be an array of Bette's beautifully unique sculpture and vessels for you to see and purchase.
