Scott Parsons
Creating art is Scott’s passion. His gateway into visual art began with sketching; reproducing comics; and even spray painting in his hometown of Washington, D.C. Scott relocated to Charleston nearly two decades ago. During that time, he became a muralist, painting scenes for local businesses. That experience led Scott to teach himself the intricacies of smaller scale painting. He now also works with a brush at the easel. Favoring acrylics, his canvases are inhabited by colorful landscapes and beings who at first glance, seem unconnected; taken in more deeply, viewers begin to link the offbeat subjects and spaces. Scott wants viewers to interpret his paintings for themselves. He sees this as keeping the conversation open between the artist and viewer.
